The Goal Zero Yeti 500X portable power station is both convenient and good at what it does, which is to provide you with the power to run your appliances. But, there are some issues that you should look out for, including:
Error – Devices are not Recharging While Connected to the Yeti
Cause:
This may be due to the output port being turned off, or the battery lacking a charge.
Solution:
Check for the white LED light on the output port. If it is red, then press the button and reset it. Also, check the power level of the battery. If the battery display icon shows a 20% charge or less, then charge the Yeti. However, if the battery warning icon is present on the LCD screen, contact Goal Zero Yeti Support for assistance, as this could indicate a major problem with the battery.
Error – Unit Overload
Cause:
The appliance or device is drawing too much power from the unit. This can show as the overload icon appearing on the LCD screen and a red light appearing on the port’s button.
Solution:
Disconnect the appliance and allow the unit to rest. The overload icon should then disappear. Check the device’s specs for the maximum energy it will draw from the Yeti. Do not use devices that exceed the machine’s maximum port output power.
Error – The Unit has a Trip
Cause:
The unit could have a trip if any of the lights turn red.
Solution:
Push the port button to reset it. This will turn the light white when successful.
Error – Battery Enters Safe Mode When Operating Car Port
Cause:
This is caused by the battery voltage dropping too low to protect the 12V car port.
Solution:
Other ports should stay active while the 12V car port is in safe mode. Charge the battery to greater than 10.5V and it should leave safe mode.
Error – Temperature warning
Cause:
The high-temperature icon appears on the LCD screen when the unit gets too hot.
Solution:
Disconnect any devices and allow the unit to cool down. If used in a hot location, consider moving it into the shade or indoors.
Error – Battery Warning
Cause:
The battery warning icon appears on the LCD screen when the battery requires attention. This could be due to a minor or severe battery issue.
Solution:
Shut down the unit and contact Yeti customer support at 1-888-794-6250. Also, ensure any devices attached are within the Yeti output port’s recommended draw power limits.
Please contact Yeti Product Support for assistance if any of these solutions do not fix the problems.
