The Briggs & Stratton PowerSmart P2400 inverter generator is excellent when you are on the road and need to charge your devices and laptop. However, it is important to be aware of some errors that can occur during its operation, including:
Error – AC Output Does Not Work
Cause:
The AC output will not work even when the unit’s engine is running. This can be caused by an open circuit breaker, a bad AC connection, a broken cord, a failure in the connected device, or the generator is overheated or overloaded. If the red LED light is on, then the unit may be overloaded or overheated.
Solution:
If possible, reset the circuit breaker on the unit by pressing the main reset button on the control panel. Check for other damages or errors and repair them. Try connecting a different device that is working properly.
Error – Engine Runs Poorly at Higher Loads
Cause:
The generator can become overloaded when too many devices are connected.
Solution:
Check the generator’s capacity in the user manual and do not attach devices that exceed the output ports’ allowances.
Error – Engine Does not Start
Cause:
This can occur for several reasons. The starting dial may still be in the off position, the engine oil may be low (as seen by the oil indicator light), the air filter is dirty, the unit is out of fuel, the spark plug wire is not connected, or the generator has been flooded with fuel.
Solution:
The starting dial needs to be turned to the on position. The air filter needs to be replaced or cleaned, or the fuel tank will need refilling. Make sure the spark plug is connected to the wire and place the generator on a level surface to mitigate any flooding in the engine. Re-crank the machine after 5 minutes have passed.
Error – Engine Shuts Down While Running
Cause:
This could be due to the Carbon Monoxide shutdown system starting. This will appear as a C0 LED light blinking red. This error occurs usually when the generator is located in the wrong environment.
Solution:
The generator needs to be moved to an open outdoor area where the air has less C0. If used indoors, open the windows and doors and air out the room.
Error – Engine Does not run Smoothly
Cause:
This can also be due to a Carbon Monoxide problem. The engine needs more air to run smoothly.
Solution:
Move the unit to an open area and allow it to run so as to decrease the Carbon Monoxide.
These fixes should provide a way to get the unit back up and running properly. However, if none of these solutions work to fix the problems, consider contacting Briggs & Stratton Customer Support.
